Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered postpartum nursing care in collaboration with families following ANA standards
• Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Implement clinical interventions and monitor maternal and newborn outcomes
• Document care thoroughly in EPIC and communicate changes to the care team
• Educate patients and families on postpartum care, newborn care, and discharge planning
• Participate in unit competency testing and maintain specialty-specific skills
• Adhere to infection control, immunization, and workplace health policies

Qualifications

• Active Rhode Island Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
• Proven postpartum nursing experience
• EPIC proficiency required
• Current BLS and NRP certifications
• Compliance with required immunizations and fit testing (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Tdap, varicella, TB screening)
• English proficiency and ability to communicate effectively with patients and families
• Successful completion of CNE skills checklist and specialty competency exams

Knowledge & Skills

• Postpartum nursing care and maternal-newborn assessment
• Care planning, clinical intervention, and outcome evaluation
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical record system
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) skills
• Strong patient education and family collaboration skills
• Ability to complete unit-specific competencies and documentation accurately
