Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adult oncology and trauma PCU patients
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy and titratable drips per policy and scope (heparin, cardizem, insulin as needed)
• Assess and manage patients using advanced hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, A-line, Swan, EV-1000) and ventilator support
• Operate and troubleshoot Alaris IV pumps and other specialty equipment safely
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in EPIC to support continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners (PT/OT, case management, social work, dietician) to optimize patient outcomes
• Perform hourly rounding and patient education focused on comfort, safety, and recovery
• Float to med/surg and PCU units as needed while maintaining quality and standards
• Demonstrate unit competencies during orientation and pass required skills assessment

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Nebraska or compact) required at time of hire
• Minimum 1 year nursing experience required; 2 years preferred (PCU, oncology or med/surg experience highly valued)
• Current ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications required; NIHSS required
• Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) preferred but not required
• Comfort with ventilator care and hemodynamic monitoring; ability to titrate IV drips
• EPIC charting experience preferred (EPIC within 6 months helpful for orientation)
• Driver's license required at submittal to confirm radius eligibility
• Willingness to complete orientation competencies and pass the open-book skills exam

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills for PCU and oncology patients
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical record workflows
• Experience with Alaris IV pumps and infusion safety
• Skill with hemodynamic monitoring devices (CVP, A-line, Swan, EV-1000)
• Basic ventilator and respiratory monitoring competence
• IV drip titration and medication administration knowledge (chemotherapy, heparin, cardizem, protonix)
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient-centered care approach
• Safe patient handling knowledge including use of Lyko and other lift equipment
• Ability to manage mixed acuity patients and function as charge when required
