Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Block scheduling; 12-hour shifts; every other weekend; holiday rotation (1 summer, 1 winter)

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $65 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate care to neonates in a Level 2 Special Care Nursery
Attend deliveries as the baby nurse, ensuring a smooth transition for newborns
Manage postpartum couplets, caring for both mother and baby
Administer IV starts and maintenance, and monitor titratable drips
Operate Bubble CPAP, Hiflow, and assist with umbilical line placement
Collaborate with neonatologists and respiratory therapists for optimal patient outcomes

Qualifications

2 years of experience preferred: NICU Level 2 and postpartum nursing
Must be skilled in attending deliveries as the baby nurse
Proficiency in IV start and maintenance, Bubble CPAP, Hiflow, and umbilical line placement assist
NRP and BLS certifications required
Ability to flex between SCN and postpartum assignments

Knowledge & Skills

Deep understanding of neonatal respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, and withdrawal management
Skilled in phototherapy, gainer/grower care, and sepsis workup
Comfortable with titratable drips like D5W and TPN
Knowledge of transfer protocols to higher level of care
Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced LDRP setting
