Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care for laboring and postpartum patients in a busy L&D unit
• Assess and monitor maternal and fetal status, intervening promptly for high-acuity needs
• Serve in circulating or scrub roles in C-sections and support epidural and spinal procedures
• Manage IV therapies including magnesium drips and other infusion needs
• Document care accurately in Meditech and CPN systems
• Collaborate closely with obstetricians, anesthesiology, NICU (Level III) and the perioperative team
• Triage OB patients in the unit, prioritize care, and act decisively in emergent situations
• Educate patients and families about labor, delivery and postpartum care to improve outcomes and experience

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) credential (state licensure required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience (explicit requirement listed)
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP (listed by the facility and expected)
• Comfortable with high-acuity L&D care and working in a fast-paced unit
• Experience with C-sections (scrub or circulating), epidurals, spinals, cerclage, version procedures
• Familiarity with IV therapy for obstetric patients (including magnesium drips)
• Experience using Meditech and CPN documentation systems is a plus
• Ability to float within the women’s and children’s service line as required

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor & Delivery clinical practice and fetal/maternal monitoring
• Perioperative roles: scrub and circulating for OB surgeries
• Meditech and CPN electronic documentation
• High-acuity patient assessment and rapid clinical decision-making
• IV therapy management, including magnesium infusion monitoring
• Team-based communication across OB, anesthesia and NICU teams
• Triage and prioritization in busy triage/ED-like OB settings
