Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide excellent, evidence-based nursing care to laboring patients and newborns in the Labor & Delivery unit
• Perform maternal and fetal assessments, monitor labor progress, and escalate concerns promptly
• Deliver neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn care in accordance with unit protocols
• Collaborate closely with obstetricians, midwives, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize outcomes
• Document care accurately and complete Trinity specialty competency testing and checklists
• Educate and support patients and families through labor, delivery, and early postpartum care

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license (Ohio) required
• BLS certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required
• NIHSS certification required (as listed)
• Successful completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity specialty-specific competency testing
• License/certificate verification required and compliant personal health records (vaccines, fit test, drug screen, etc.)
• Previous experience in Labor & Delivery preferred

Education

• Active RN license in Ohio
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in labor assessment, fetal monitoring, and maternal/neonatal safety practices
• Able to perform neonatal resuscitation (NRP) and respond to obstetric emergencies
• Familiarity with specialty competency checklists and structured clinical documentation
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient education skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced L&D environment with attention to detail
