Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care for adults and geriatric patients in an inpatient rehab setting
• Assess and monitor patients' clinical status, communicate changes, and coordinate with the interdisciplinary team
• Administer medications and therapies as ordered; document care accurately in EPIC
• Support care for common rehab diagnoses including stroke, spinal cord injury, amputee care and brain injury
• Collaborate with therapists, case managers and support staff to create and follow individualized care plans
• Float to MedSurg as needed and assist unit needs while maintaining high standards of safety and quality
• Participate in unit orientation, pass competency assessments, and mentor unit staff and patient care techs

Qualifications

• Active RN license (ability to submit license required)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (as indicated)
• Valid driver's license required at submittal (radius rule: candidates must live within 50 miles)
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and meeting weekend/holiday requirements
• Willingness to complete orientation including classroom time and two 12-hour unit shifts; pass open-book skills exam per orientation policy

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required (per job data)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong experience with inpatient rehabilitation and medical-surgical nursing
• Familiarity with EPIC charting system
• Clinical knowledge of stroke, SCI, BI, amputee care and neurological diseases (MS, Parkinson's)
• Understanding of common medication classes used on the unit (antibiotics, anticoagulation, antiplatelets)
• Excellent communication, teamwork, problem solving and organizational skills
• Ability to work with and delegate to patient care techs; maintain professional standards (fingernail/artificial nail policy applies)
