Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality direct patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process (assess, plan, implement, evaluate)
• Perform timely patient assessments and communicate clinical changes to physicians and the care team
• Implement care plans and evaluate patient responses, adjusting interventions as needed
• Deliver patient and family teaching to support recovery and safe transitions
• Maintain standards of professional nursing practice and patient confidentiality at all times
• Work in Telemetry when assigned and interpret basic rhythms to support patient care
• Comply with EMTALA regulations and report suspected child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies

Qualifications

• Current, valid state Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Minimum one year experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital setting; Emergency Room experience preferred
• Current BLS required upon hire and to be maintained
• Current ACLS required within 30 days of hire and to be maintained
• Current PALS and/or ENPC required within 30 days of hire and to be maintained
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation required within 30 days of hire
• Nursys registration as part of licensing verification
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) and BSN are preferred—strong pluses for your application

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency department nursing skills including rapid assessment and triage
• Telemetry experience and ability to interpret basic rhythms
• Familiarity with EMTALA and hospital reporting protocols
• Excellent communication with physicians, nursing staff, patients and families
• Proficiency in patient/family education and care planning
• Comfort responding quickly and accurately to changes in clinical condition
