Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, high-acuity bedside care for post-cardiac surgery and complex CVICU patients
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias, acting quickly and confidently
• Perform and maintain sterile technique for central line dressing changes and other procedures
• Insert and manage IVs and Foley catheters according to unit protocols and SIMs Lab competency
• Collaborate with intensivists, RT, pharmacy, and the multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated care
• Float to other ICUs and telemetry units as needed, maintaining safe patient ratios
• Serve in charge nurse duties when assigned, coordinating patient flow and assignments
• Document accurately in Cerner and ensure timely communication during handoffs

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the appropriate state or eligible to obtain one
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience; CVICU or CTICU experience preferred
• Must have Level I trauma experience (required)
• BLS and ACLS required; CCRN strongly preferred
• Demonstrated competence with dysrhythmia recognition; candidate must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (two attempts allowed)
• Strong IV skills and comfort with central line care and Foley insertion; SIMs Lab pass on Day 1 required
• Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and meet weekend rotation requirements
• Travel teams must have their own vehicle; candidates must comply with facility appearance and fit test requirements (natural hair color, no facial piercings, men clean shave for fit test)

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac surgery recovery care including CABG, TAVR, post-op monitoring
• Experience with IABP, CRRT, ECMO, Swan-Ganz catheters and ventilator management
• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia identification
• Central line dressing changes, sterile field maintenance, and Foley catheter skills
• IV insertion/management and high-volume bedside procedures
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR and accurate clinical documentation
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity ICU environment
