Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and develop individualized, goal-driven plans of care
• Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions and progress treatments toward functional goals
• Document all evaluations and treatments clearly in the Electronic Medical Record
• Recommend, obtain, and train patients on appropriate assistive devices
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary team on discharge planning and patient progress
• Supervise and mentor Physical Therapist Assistants and assist in student clinical education
• Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and other reimbursement and regulatory requirements
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and share learnings from conferences and trainings

Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist in the State of Maine (required)
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or Doctorate preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Comfortable working with orthopedic surgical patients (hip & knee/joint replacement)
• Experience or willingness to follow DNV Hip & Knee Replacement program education standards
• Strong interpersonal and documentation skills; clear English communication
• Ability to supervise assistant-level staff and participate in mentoring after two years of experience

Education

• Bachelor's degree required
• Master's or Doctorate preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient evaluation and establishment of therapeutic plans of care
• Therapeutic modalities and orthopedic rehabilitation for joint replacement
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation best practices
• Medicare, Medicaid, and reimbursement knowledge and compliant documentation
• Assistive device recommendation and patient/caregiver education
• Quality improvement participation and clinical education delivery
• Ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team and consult with referring physicians
