Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary PTA treatments under the supervision of a Physical Therapist
• Administer manual techniques, therapeutic exercises, modalities, ambulation training, and use of assistive/supportive devices
• Assess patient progress and communicate effectively with the supervising Physical Therapist to adjust treatment plans
• Document all clinical care and treatment minutes accurately in the electronic documentation system
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on treatment goals, home programs, and safe mobility
• Contribute input for discharge planning and ensure regulatory and clinical practice requirements are met
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review, and required facility trainings
• Support and supervise students when appropriate, under the guidance of the Physical Therapist

Qualifications

• Active PTA license required; must hold state licensure in Missouri (Compact licensure allowed)
• Minimum 1 year of PTA experience required
• Experience in long-term care (LTC) or inpatient/outpatient rehab preferred
• Proficiency with electronic documentation and accurate recording of treatment minutes
• Knowledge of DME needs and ability to work with supervising PT to obtain supplies
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with interdisciplinary team members
• Commitment to APTA and state practice acts, professional ethics, and code of conduct

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (preferred)
• Current PTA license and active state registration in Missouri
