Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical oversight for the Occupational Therapy department, ensuring high-quality patient care and professional standards
• Supervise, mentor, and directly oversee certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and Rehabilitation Technicians
• Coordinate and manage the clinical education and competency processes for OT staff to maintain clinical excellence
• Ensure departmental compliance with state regulations, facility policies, and professional standards
• Develop, maintain, and implement OT policies and procedures covering scope of care, evaluation/treatment standards, documentation, and discharge planning
• Evaluate and treat patients (approximately 80% clinical time), delivering hands-on, evidence-based therapy
• Lead documentation practices and discharge planning to support continuity of care and regulatory requirements
• Support program development and carry out assigned administrative duties (approximately 20% administrative time)

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (required)
• Currently licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of California by the Board of Medical Quality Assurance (required)
• Possess additional qualifications as recommended by the CA Therapy Board and the Rehabilitation Services Department (required)
• Member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) (preferred)
• Experience supervising COTAs and Rehabilitation Technicians and leading clinical education/competency programs
• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, documentation standards, and discharge planning

Education

• Graduate of an Occupational Therapy program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)

• Expertise in patient evaluation and treatment planning
• Clinical leadership and staff supervision
• Policy and procedure development and implementation
• Regulatory compliance and familiarity with State Practice Act
• Clinical documentation best practices and discharge planning
• Experience with clinical education, competency assessment, and mentorship
