Roles & Responsibilities

• Scrub and assist in open heart and vascular procedures with precision and focus
• Function as First Assist where required, supporting the surgical team in cardiovascular cases
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure operating room readiness for each case
• Document patient and procedural information accurately in Meditech
• Communicate professionally and courteously with patients, families, and the care team to support a positive patient experience
• Adapt to unit needs by floating to the Main OR when Heart/Vascular cases are not available
• Be on-call as scheduled and respond promptly for weekday and weekend coverage

Qualifications

• CST certification and/or ORT experience preferred
• Proven ability to scrub open heart cases — a hard requirement for this unit
• Experience scrubbing vascular cases; endovascular experience a plus
• Approximately 2 years of relevant operating room/CV experience (posting indicates 'Experience: 2')
• Comfortable documenting in Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems
• Professional, polite demeanor and ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of cardiovascular / heart surgery procedures and sterile technique
• Skilled in scrubbing open heart and vascular cases
• Familiarity with endovascular procedures is a helpful plus
• Proficiency with Meditech or similar documentation systems
• Ability to prioritize, anticipate surgeon needs, and maintain OR workflow
• Comfortable working in a small Heart/Vascular unit and floating to larger OR suites
