Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to residents including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility assistance
• Assist nursing team with vital signs, documentation, and routine observations
• Engage residents with respectful conversation and meaningful interaction to promote dignity and comfort
• Support safe transfers and appropriate use of mobility aids to reduce falls and injuries
• Contribute to a clean, safe environment by following infection control and facility procedures
• Report changes in resident condition promptly to licensed nursing staff and participate in care planning

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification (required)
• Active/state-appropriate CNA listing or license for Connecticut preferred
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass background check and meet facility health requirements (immunizations, TB testing, etc.)
• Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine desire to care for older adults
• Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved CNA training program and current certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic patient care procedures and infection control practices
• Comfortable with safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Good documentation and observation skills to relay resident changes
• Teamwork mindset and ability to follow direction from licensed nurses
• Strong communication skills with residents, families, and colleagues
