Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, age-appropriate direct personal care and assist with activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Take and accurately record vital signs and measure patient output; recognize and report abnormal signs
• Implement infection control practices and follow universal precautions at all times
• Assist with restorative care using assistive devices and perform range of motion activities
• Observe, document, and report changes in patient condition clearly and promptly
• Respect and protect patient rights while participating as a contributing member of the treatment team
• Support patients with patience and tact, managing challenging behaviors with calm professionalism

Qualifications

• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification required
• At least 6 months of experience in a long-term care (LTC) facility (explicit requirement)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers certification must be obtained within six (6) months of employment
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand simple sentences in English
• Personal qualities: patience, tact, emotional stability, and a respectful attitude toward patients
• Previous work experience in Hawaii is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient care and basic nursing skills including vital signs and measuring output
• Activities of daily living (ADLs) support and restorative care techniques
• Infection control, universal precautions, and body mechanics
• Comfort with assistive devices, range of motion activities, and basic medical/nursing terminology
• Strong observation, documentation, and communication skills (oral and written)
• Cultural sensitivity and tolerance for a range of patient behaviors
• Ability to assess and meet age-specific patient needs and collaborate with the care team
