Shift Type: Day shift, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM; days of week not specified; includes every-other-weekend rotation (35 hours every other weekend)

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor respiratory status of patients in an LTAC setting to ensure safe, high-quality care
- Provide ventilator management and respiratory support, adjusting settings and troubleshooting as needed
- Administer respiratory treatments and airway clearance interventions with attention to patient comfort and outcomes
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—physicians, nursing, rehab—to create and follow individualized care plans
- Educate patients and families on breathing techniques, equipment use, and disease management to promote independence
- Perform accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and follow infection control and safety protocols
Qualifications
- Active Respiratory Therapist credential or eligibility to obtain state licensure (Virginia licensure required prior to practice)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; advanced certifications (ACLS, PALS) preferred where applicable
- Experience or comfort working in LTAC or complex respiratory care settings is a strong plus
- Demonstrated ability to manage ventilators, deliver respiratory treatments, and perform airway management
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented, patient-focused approach
Education
- Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy (or equivalent). Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care or related field is a plus.
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency with ventilator management and mechanical ventilation troubleshooting
- Skilled in arterial blood gas interpretation and oxygen/ventilator adjustments
- Knowledge of respiratory therapy modalities, airway clearance techniques, and suctioning
- Competent documentation and electronic medical record usage
- Ability to educate patients and families and to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
