Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide timely, compassionate patient care and assist the ER team during critical situations
• Perform vital sign collection, basic assessments, and ongoing patient monitoring
• Support triage and assist with patient flow to help the department run smoothly
• Prepare and maintain equipment and treatment areas to ensure readiness for emergencies
• Document patient information accurately and communicate changes to nurses and physicians
• Assist with procedures and specimen collection under supervision, ensuring patient comfort and safety
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated, high-quality care

Qualifications

• Current BLS/CPR certification (required)
• EMT certification or equivalent is strongly preferred
• Previous experience in an emergency department or acute care setting preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work rotating shifts and consecutive weekends as needed
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass required background and health screenings

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; certificate or coursework in allied health, emergency medical services, or related field preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with emergency department workflows and triage principles
• Skilled in obtaining vital signs and basic clinical observations
• Comfortable with basic patient care tasks and assisting with emergency procedures
• Strong documentation and charting habits
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and communicate clearly with team members
• Cultural sensitivity and patient-centered approach — important in Honolulu’s diverse community
