Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform EEG and related neurodiagnostic studies with accuracy and compassion
- Set up and operate EEG and polysomnography equipment, ensuring high-quality recordings
- Care for patients during procedures — explain processes, ensure comfort, and observe safety
- Accurately document findings and maintain clear, timely records in the patient chart
- Collaborate with physicians, technologists, and nursing staff to support patient care plans
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and assist with routine maintenance and calibration
- Participate in quality improvement activities and follow infection control and safety protocols
Qualifications
- Certification or training as an EEG Technologist or Polysomnographer preferred (examples: R. EEG T., RPSGT) — willingness to obtain accepted
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required or obtainable upon hire
- Previous experience performing EEGs or sleep/EEG studies is strongly preferred
- Strong patient-care skills with the ability to interact kindly and professionally
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a small, collaborative team
- Excellent attention to detail and dependable documentation practices
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or certificate in Neurodiagnostic Technology, Polysomnography, or related field preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with EEG and polysomnography equipment and lead placement
- Understanding of basic neuroanatomy and common EEG patterns
- Comfortable using electronic medical records and clinical documentation systems
- Strong troubleshooting skills for technical and patient-related issues
- Clear communication and interpersonal skills for patient interactions and team collaboration
- Good time management and ability to maintain workflow in a busy clinical setting
