Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Days 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM; Nights 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM), rotating schedule with every other weekend and every third holiday required; primarily night assignments available (12-hour nights)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, patient-centered nursing care to adults and geriatric patients on a busy PCU/Stepdown unit
- Titrate and manage IV drips and cardiac medications (for example, Cardizem and beta blockers) according to protocol
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to telemetry and continuous EEG findings
- Document thorough, timely patient notes and care plans using EPIC
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including charge nurses, techs, and physicians, to coordinate excellent care
- Support patient admissions, discharges, and transfers while maintaining high safety standards and accurate handoffs
- Demonstrate critical thinking in fast-paced situations and participate in unit problem solving
- Adhere to facility policies (including fingernail/artificial nail rules) and complete required orientation evaluations
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible for practice in the state of Nebraska
- Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience (PCU/Stepdown, telemetry, ICU, or Med-Surg preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required
- Comfort and experience with IV/drip titration and cardiac monitoring
- Experience charting in EPIC preferred
- Valid Driver's License at time of submittal to confirm radius eligibility
- Able to meet the 50-mile radius requirement and not be concurrently employed (FT/PT/PRN) by CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facilities
- Willingness to complete orientation, pass the open-book skills exam (90% required), and float to medical floors, ICU, or rehab as needed
Education
- Active RN license required; BSN not required (ADN or diploma accepted)
Knowledge & Skills
- PCU and stepdown nursing practices and high-acuity care
- Medication administration and titration of drips
- Telemetry and continuous cardiac/EEG monitoring
- Strong critical thinking, clinical assessment, and prioritization skills
- Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and care teams
- Familiarity with common diagnoses seen on the unit: cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and support peers
