Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic sonographic examinations (Abdominal and OB/GYN) for radiologist interpretation.
• Apply principles of radiation protection and exercise professional judgment during procedures.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure neat, organized work areas.
• Care for transducers and manage the Trophon station to ensure infection control.
• Assist with ultrasound invasive procedures and patient transfers as needed.
• Participate in departmental quality assurance and accreditation activities.
• Consult with referring physicians to support patient care and diagnostic decisions.
• Pursue continuing education and RDMS certification requirements to advance skills.
• Cover shifts as required and assume department responsibility in supervisor absence.

Qualifications

• Current ARDMS certification in at least one category (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, or RDCS) required
• Experience performing diagnostic exams in assigned ultrasound modalities, AB/OB preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association required
• Willingness to rotate shifts and travel to various SEARHC sites when needed
• Ability to work with patients across the lifespan, from newborns to geriatric adults
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well under stress

Education

• ARDMS certification in one modality (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, RDCS) required
• Ongoing pursuit of additional RDMS categories encouraged
• BLS (AHA) certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in sonographic examination techniques for abdominal and OB/GYN studies
• Patient assessment and safe transfer practices
• Transducer care and infection control (Trophon use)
• Quality assurance and accreditation processes
• Familiarity with multiple imaging modalities and radiology consultation workflows
• Commitment to continuing education and professional development
