Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM (Day) with required on-call: one 24-hour weekend shift per month (Saturday or Sunday) and three weeknight on-call shifts per month covering 6:00 PM - 7:00 AM; 30-minute call response time; rotating scheduled day off (day shift with rotating call/overnight on-call coverage).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist surgical team in orthopedic and general cases, including preparation and handling of instruments during procedures.
• Set up and maintain sterile field and instruments for cases involving Stryker MAKO and Da Vinci robotic platforms.
• Serve as circulating technologist as needed — anticipate team needs and ensure smooth OR flow.
• Support EPIC documentation and accurate charting of perioperative care.
• Prepare operating suites and equipment for a high-volume schedule (average ~15 cases/day across 5 suites).
• Collaborate with charge nurse and OR leadership to coordinate case assignments and call coverage.
• Adhere to hospital policies, sterile technique, and patient safety protocols to deliver excellent care.
• Participate in orientation and continuous learning to keep skills sharp and current.

Qualifications

• Washington state surgical technologist license required.
• Minimum of 2 years of surgical tech experience with strong orthopedic experience (total joints: knees, hips, shoulders).
• Stryker MAKO robot experience required for total joint cases.
• BLS certification required; CST preferred; CNOR preferred (a strong plus).
• Prior experience circulating and scrubbing in a busy OR environment.
• Familiarity with EPIC charting and acute care documentation.
• Ability to respond to call within 30 minutes and cover required call shifts (including one 24-hour weekend shift/month).

Education

• Surgical Technology certificate or diploma preferred; CST credential preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

• Robotic-assisted surgery workflows (MAKO and exposure to Da Vinci helpful).
• Sterile technique mastery and instrument handling for orthopedic and general surgery.
• Circulating and scrub role versatility in a multi-suite OR setting.
• Efficient case setup and turnover in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Proficient use of EPIC for perioperative documentation.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and situational awareness in the OR.
