Shift Type: Day shifts (specific days vary): 06:30 AM - 03:00 PM or 06:30 AM - 07:00 PM. Scheduling patterns include either two 8-hour shifts, two 12-hour shifts, or five 8-hour shifts per week. Weekly 1-4 hour on-call after a shift; weekend call (Fri evening - Sun evening) approximately every 5 weeks. Shift type: Day with rotating call and weekend coverage.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist surgical teams across a broad range of specialties including ortho, neuro, general, GYN, ENT, plastics, thoracic, and GU procedures
• Prepare and maintain sterile field and instruments, ensuring strict adherence to sterile technique
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot surgical robotics and specialty equipment such as DaVinci robot, stealth navigation, O-arm, and holmium lasers
• Anticipate surgeon needs during cases and provide skilled instrument handling for procedures like ORIFs, tumor resections, shunts, and complex laparoscopic surgeries
• Participate in organ procurement cases and emergency pediatric situations with calm, decisive action
• Document care and case details in EPIC accurately and promptly
• Contribute to a trauma level 1 OR environment by maintaining situational awareness and quick response during high-acuity cases
• Support call coverage and after-hours patient needs as part of the rotating call teams

Qualifications

• BLS certification required at time of submission
• CST preferred but not required
• Minimum 2 years surgical tech experience (experience in neuro and ortho is required)
• Proven robotics experience (DaVinci or equivalent) required
• Valid driver's license required at submittal (used to confirm radius eligibility)
• Available for required RTO upfront (7 or fewer days per 13-week contract)
• Not currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI and Dignity)
• Adherence to facility policies including fingernail/artificial nail restrictions

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Surgical Technology program completion or equivalent applicable training preferred
• CST credential preferred but not mandatory

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong sterile technique and OR workflow knowledge
• Hands-on experience with DaVinci robotic systems and robotic case setup
• Familiarity with neuro and orthopedic procedures (ACDF, craniotomies, ORIFs, IM nails, etc.)
• Competence with laparoscopic and endoscopic instrument sets
• Experience with EPIC charting system
• Comfort in high-acuity trauma cases and organ procurement processes
• Ability to function well on call and adapt to varying case mixes and schedules
