Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert scrub support in the Cardiovascular Operating Room, ensuring instrument readiness and sterile technique
• Assist surgeons and the OR team throughout procedures across neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
• Anticipate procedural needs and prepare instruments, supplies, and equipment for efficient case flow
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control and patient safety standards
• Document perioperative care activities accurately and communicate effectively with nurses and perioperative staff
• Support unit goals by functioning independently within established protocols and contributing to team problem solving

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program (required for hires post-2009)
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Surgical Technologist with Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) specialty experience
• BCLS certification required
• National certification preferred or required (NBSTSA - CST, NCCT - TS-C, or AST)
• Comfortable with on-call rotations and adaptable scheduling
• Proficient computer and keyboarding skills

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in scrubbing and intraoperative instrumentation for CVOR cases
• Able to care for patients across the lifespan: neonate through geriatric
• Strong clinical judgment, tact, and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
• Ability to function independently and follow unit protocols
• Good communication skills and teamwork in a fast-paced OR environment
