Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) program across SEARHC
• Perform surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections (HAI) and report to NHSN and other regulatory agencies
• Design, write, update, and implement IPC policies and procedures aligned with CDC, CMS, OSHA, FDA, TJC, and APIC guidelines
• Provide expert education and training to staff, patients, families, and communities on infection prevention best practices
• Chair the IPC committee and collaborate with public health and regional/state partners to keep practices current
• Oversee Employee Health program activities and supervise assigned staff
• Collect, trend, and prepare infection control data and statistical reports; support data-driven performance improvement efforts
• Travel to multiple sites to assess, educate, and train staff, ensuring consistent IPC standards system-wide

Qualifications

• Active, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start date; agency staff must hold an active Alaska license)
• Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field required (nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or similar)
• Master's degree (MPH or MSN) preferred
• Certification in Infection Control and Prevention (CIC) required or strongly preferred
• BLS (Basic Life Support) current within 3 months of hire and maintained thereafter
• Minimum 3 years of acute care and/or infection control, data collection, performance improvement, or risk management experience
• Clinical and manager competency assessments to be completed within required timeframes

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field (required)
• Master's degree in a healthcare-related field (MPH/MSN) preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent (baseline requirement noted in posting)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong working knowledge of epidemiology and infectious diseases
• Experience with HAI surveillance, NHSN reporting, and public health reporting requirements
• Proficiency in data collection, analysis, trending, and basic statistics
• Skilled in policy development, implementation, and translating regulatory requirements into practice
• Proficient with MS Office and database applications
• Ability to design and deliver effective training and education across diverse audiences
• Project management and performance improvement methodology experience
• Excellent communication skills with cultural and health-literacy awareness
