Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality clinical education to long-term care staff across Sitka and Wrangell
- Develop, select, and implement curriculum and training programs that support clinical competency and policy standards
- Partner with clinical leaders to standardize and streamline the clinical competency program
- Support orientation and preceptorships for new employees and coordinate student clinical experiences
- Use evidence-based practice to design and evaluate professional development activities that improve patient outcomes
- Serve as a collaborative member of the Clinical Nursing Education team and contribute to consortium-wide projects
- Act as liaison for additional clinical education opportunities and coordinate with external partners
- Conduct competency assessments and ensure educational activities align with accreditation and policy requirements
Qualifications
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) from an accredited school of nursing
- Current, full, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state (Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start date)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for providers required
- BLS Instructor certification preferred (or must obtain within 1 year of hire)
- Clinical Competency Assessment required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter
- Minimum 5 years of professional nursing experience, including at least 2 years in long-term care
- At least 2 years of clinical instructor/educator experience (one year may be replaced by supervisory experience)
- Supervisory experience preferred
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing with a BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong skills in curriculum development, clinical education, and competency assessment
- Experience with adult learning principles and evidence-based training methods
- Familiarity with clinical modalities and tools such as Microsoft Teams, Workday, Canva, Articulate, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and PowerPoint
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with clinical leaders to develop standards of care and training modalities
- Commitment to policy compliance, patient-centered care, and continuous quality improvement
- Comfortable teaching in-person and via digital platforms, and conducting skills fairs and competency evaluations
