Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate critical care to pediatric patients in the PICU, managing complex and high-acuity cases
• Monitor and interpret hemodynamic data and ICP readings to support rapid clinical decision-making
• Manage ventilators and advanced airway care, including trach management and tube feeding/placement
• Perform procedures and skilled interventions: IV starts, caths, central line dressing changes, and holding for LPs
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Cerner and manage infusion pumps (Alaris)
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with families to ensure the best patient outcomes
• Support unit staffing needs and float to Pediatrics and NICU as required, maintaining safety and continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (eligible to practice in the assignment state)
• PALS certification (required)
• Minimum PICU experience as outlined by unit (patient experience requirement: 1 year PICU; job lists experience level 2 years)
• Comfort with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and other critical care procedures
• Ability to work rotating nights and meet weekend scheduling requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• PICU nursing and pediatric critical care expertise
• Ventilator management and advanced airway skills
• Hemodynamic monitoring and ICP monitoring experience
• Competency with Cerner electronic documentation
• Experience with Alaris infusion pumps
• Skilled in trach care, central line dressing changes, IV starts and caths
• Familiarity with tube feeding and pediatric procedures
