Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality CT and X-ray examinations following departmental protocols to produce diagnostic images for interpretation.
• Practice radiation safety and maintain ALARA standards, including pregnancy screening for female patients.
• Perform and document equipment quality control (QC) per manufacturer recommendations and report equipment issues immediately.
• Operate imaging equipment safely and troubleshoot basic malfunctions; contact service engineers for complex repairs.
• Provide patient education, obtain informed consent when required, and verify patient identity using two identifiers.
• Assist with clerical duties, patient transportation, and submission of required imaging paperwork to Health Information Management and radiologists.
• Notify radiologist and ordering physician promptly for STAT/emergent cases and ensure prior studies are available for comparison.
• Assist, train, and cross-train imaging staff; participate in departmental performance improvement and compliance activities.

Qualifications

• Registered in at least two imaging modalities (or eligible to obtain within 1 year): e.g., ARRT (R, CT, MR, M) or ARDMS credentials.
• ARRT registration in Radiology and/or Computed Tomography preferred.
• Current BLS certification required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Prior experience as a practicing technologist in one or more modalities listed; 2 years preferred.
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and any required employee health clearances.
• Must be able to legally work in the United States and meet minimum age requirements where applicable.

Education

• ARRT registration(s) or equivalent registry credentials in required modalities (or eligible to obtain within 1 year).
• BLS certification (current or obtained within 90 days).

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of CT and X-ray imaging procedures, PACS/RIS/HIS workflows and documentation.
• Radiation safety and infection control best practices (ALARA compliance).
• Equipment operation and routine QC per manufacturer recommendations.
• Effective patient communication, education, and verification processes.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and ability to learn electronic health record systems.
• Troubleshooting skills, inventory management, and ability to cross-train in other modalities.
