Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered oncology and post-surgical nursing care on a 24-bed unit
• Administer and monitor treatments and medications according to protocols and scope of practice
• Assess and monitor patient status, intervene as needed, and escalate concerns to the interdisciplinary team
• Document care accurately and efficiently in the Cerner EMR
• Perform and assist with procedures commonly on the unit (e.g., echo, thoracentesis, occasional pelvic exams) per policy
• Coordinate care and discharge planning with case management, physicians, and unit staff
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up care with empathy and clarity

Qualifications

• Valid RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• CNA license noted (as applicable) — listed in the posting as a primary credential
• Minimum ~2 years of relevant nursing experience (as noted)
• Chemo certification preferred (nice-to-have)
• Comfortable working night shifts and weekend rotations in a med-surg/oncology environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing experience and med-surg background
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR for charting and order entry
• Ability to manage typical unit patient ratios (1:4 or 1:5)
• Comfort with procedures such as echo and thoracentesis and the ability to support occasional pelvic exams
• Strong teamwork, communication, and clinical judgment skills
