Roles & Responsibilities

Audit provider medical records to validate accurate CPT and ICD-10 coding and ensure documentation supports assigned codes.
Compile clear, actionable audit reports with analysis of findings and maintain audit logs for the revenue cycle team.
Communicate findings to providers and staff—offer education and documentation tools to improve coding accuracy and compliance.
Train new revenue cycle team members on coding and documentation guidelines and support ongoing coder development.
Support Revenue Cycle Manager with evaluation of coding activities and participate in performance evaluations as needed.
Perform coding tasks where warranted and provide hands-on coding support to BHMG coding and billing staff.
Design and implement physician education plans and documentation improvement tools in collaboration with management.

Qualifications

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
Associate degree in a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum five (5) years of inpatient/outpatient coding and auditing experience
Proven physician (professional) coding experience in an office-based setting
Experience coding across multiple specialties is preferred
Strong communication skills with experience educating providers and revenue cycle staff

Education

Associate Degree in a related field (required)
Bachelor's Degree in a related field (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

CPT and ICD-10 coding expertise
Medical record auditing and clinical documentation compliance
Provider education and strong interpersonal skills for physician communication
Revenue cycle knowledge and charge entry awareness
Experience with multi-specialty group practice coding and audit processes
Ability to compile audit reports and maintain audit logs
