Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care before, during, and after cardiovascular, electrophysiology, and interventional neurology procedures.
• Prepare procedure rooms and equipment, verify consents and lab results, and ensure safe, efficient patient flow.
• Perform thorough pre- and post-procedure assessments, monitor hemodynamics and sedation, and communicate abnormalities immediately to the physician/NP.
• Independently circulate procedures, assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cases, and document procedures in real time using MacLab/CardioLab systems.
• Operate specialized equipment such as intra-cardiac ultrasound and 3D mapping systems when needed.
• Execute the Full Stop/Time Out safety process before procedures and maintain patient safety and privacy at all times.
• Provide clear handoffs to receiving RNs and participate in precepting new staff to build a strong, skilled team.
• Maintain required certifications and participate in ongoing education to stay current with specialty practices.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.
• ICU, CVICU, IMC, or Cath Lab experience required — new grads and med/surg-only nurses are not being considered.
• Preferred: prior experience working in a Cardiovascular and Electrophysiology (EP) Lab.
• Ability to work varied shifts, respond to on-call pager, and handle complex, fast-paced procedural care.

Education

• Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred (BSN).
• Associate Degree or Nursing Diploma accepted if BSN obtained within 36 months of hire.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program required.

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and procedural monitoring for cardiovascular and EP patients
• Proficiency with MacLab/CardioLab documentation and electronic charting in real time
• Experience circulating in procedures and assisting with device implants (pacemakers, ICDs) and EP studies/ablations
• Familiarity with X-ray fluoroscopy and intra-cardiac ultrasound operation
• Understanding of hemodynamics, procedural sedation, and peri-procedural lab/result review
• Strong communication for team-based Time Out/Full Stop safety processes and patient handoffs
