Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy and other complex medications safely and accurately, following facility protocols
• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for oncology and post-surgical women’s patients
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes, and escalate care promptly to optimize outcomes
• Document patient care and assessments in Cerner EMR clearly and timely
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — physicians, CNAs, HUCs and ancillary staff — to coordinate patient-focused care
• Perform and support procedures as needed (occasional pelvic exams, assist with echo and thoracentesis) and ensure patient comfort
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, side-effect management, and discharge instructions

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience; oncology or med-surg experience preferred (job lists Experience: 2)
• Chemo certification is preferred — candidates with chemo administration experience will be prioritized
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR for documentation and medication administration
• Comfort working in a fast-paced unit with patient ratios typically 1:4 or 1:5
• Team player mindset and willingness to float occasionally to other med-surg units

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing principles and chemotherapy administration best practices
• Med-Surg patient care foundations and post-surgical nursing
• Proficient documentation and order management in Cerner
• Procedure support: pelvic exams, echo, thoracentesis familiarity
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient education skills
• Ability to work independently overnight while engaging the care team as needed
