Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field for orthopedic cases with precision and care
• Set up, organize, and verify surgical trays and instrumentation before cases
• Assist surgeons by passing instruments and anticipating procedural needs
• Perform accurate sponge/instrument counts and document perioperative activity
• Ensure strict adherence to aseptic technique and patient safety protocols
• Collaborate with the surgical team and support staff to keep cases running smoothly
• Participate in Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain excellence

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• Current BLS certification required
• License/Certificate Verification required prior to start
• Demonstrated experience or comfort working in orthopedics preferred
• Successful completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and specialty competency testing
• Current immunizations and required health screenings (e.g., COVID-19, Tdap, MMR, Hep B, Varicella, influenza, TB test or IGRA) and a clear drug screen

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of orthopedic instruments, implants, and procedural flow
• Expertise in sterile technique and operating room infection control
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and adapt during procedures
• Accurate documentation and reliable surgical counts
• Comfort working with specialty equipment and maintaining OR readiness
• Team-oriented communication and a calm, methodical approach under pressure
