Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, culturally sensitive, holistic nursing care for patients with diabetes
• Develop, initiate and execute individualized patient care plans and education
• Deliver diabetes education to patients and families in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
• Administer medications and treatments according to approved nursing techniques and state practice acts
• Document care and education thoroughly and in accordance with standards of care
• Serve as a patient advocate addressing clinical and psychosocial needs
• Act as a resource for staff on patient education materials and program development
• Participate in unit performance improvement activities and shared governance initiatives

Qualifications

• Licensed as an RN in Illinois (IL) and Wisconsin (WI) as required
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred
• CDCES certification required
• Approved CPR certification required within 90 days of hire
• Experience with diabetes education, medication administration and care plan development
• Ability to float to other units and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams
• Strong critical thinking skills and commitment to patient safety and experience

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred)
