Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with diagnostic and interventional cardiac, peripheral, electrophysiology and neuro-interventional procedures, providing safe, expert peri-procedural nursing care
• Prepare procedure rooms and equipment, verify consents and labs, and ensure timely patient readiness for scheduled cases
• Assess and monitor patients pre-, intra- and post-procedure, communicating abnormal findings immediately to the physician or NP
• Independently circulate procedures, operate fluoroscopy/X-ray and intra-cardiac ultrasound as appropriate, and document procedures in the MacLab/CardioLab system
• Administer procedural sedation per unit policies and provide thorough handoffs to receiving nurses
• Maintain sterile technique, support hemodynamic monitoring and structural heart procedures such as TAVR and LAAO when assigned
• Participate in safety checks including Full Stop/Time Out processes and promote a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and families
• Precept and educate new staff, engage in continuing professional development, and maintain required certifications and annual competencies

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Required experience: ICU, CVICU, IMC or Cath Lab experience preferred; new grads and Med/Surg-only experience are not being considered at this time
• Preferred: prior RN experience in a Cardiovascular and Electrophysiology Lab (EP), including device implants and ablations
• Ability to respond to on-call rotation, work varied shift lengths, and cover holidays/weekends as needed
• Strong documentation skills and comfort using MacLab/CardioLab and electronic health records

Education

• Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred
• Associate Degree in Nursing accepted if BSN is obtained within 36 months of hire
• Or graduation from an accredited Nursing Diploma program

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and monitoring for peri-procedural cardiovascular and EP patients
• Procedure room preparation and sterile technique for invasive cardiac and neuro-interventional cases
• Circulating and circulating-assist skills during diagnostic and interventional procedures
• Proficiency with MacLab/CardioLab documentation and EHR charting in real time
• Fluoroscopy/X-ray familiarity and intra-cardiac ultrasound operation
• Experience with electrophysiology equipment including 3D mapping systems and device management (pacemaker/ICD)
• Hemodynamics, procedural sedation, and ability to support structural heart procedures (TAVR, LAAO) and vascular interventions (EVAR, carotid stenting)
