Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist clinicians in ambulatory care by preparing patients and exam rooms with care and professionalism
- Perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, collecting specimens, and preparing basic treatments
- Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic health record and support care continuity
- Triage patient calls and help manage scheduling to keep the clinic running smoothly
- Maintain supplies, sterilization standards, and equipment readiness for safe patient care
- Participate in orientation and on-going training to stay current with clinic protocols and best practices
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience preferred
- Certification (CMA/RMA) is a plus and shows dedication to the profession
- Current BLS/CPR certification required or obtainable during orientation
- Comfortable with phlebotomy, specimen handling, and taking accurate vital signs
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered attitude
- Able to work reliable 4-hour ambulatory clinic shifts
Education
- High school diploma or GED required; Medical Assistant program completion preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and basic clinical documentation
- Knowledge of infection control and standard outpatient procedures
- Skill in patient triage, appointment coordination, and front/back office support
- Experience with specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and supply management
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced ambulatory clinic while maintaining attention to detail
