Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct patient care including assistance with bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility
- Monitor and accurately record vital signs and patient condition to support clinical decision-making
- Assist nursing staff with treatments, turning, transfers, and ADLs to ensure patient comfort and safety
- Maintain clear, timely documentation in the patient chart and communicate changes in condition to the care team
- Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies to protect patients and staff
- Build rapport with patients and families, providing respectful support and clear communication
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (New Mexico or eligible to obtain)
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain promptly
- Demonstrated ability to perform ADLs and safe patient transfers
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Previous experience in long-term care, rehabilitation, or acute care is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited CNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic nursing care and activities of daily living
- Ability to take and document vital signs accurately
- Infection control and safe patient handling principles
- Comfortable with electronic charting or willingness to learn
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
