Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to residents including bathing, dressing and feeding
• Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes to nursing staff
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and restorative care routines
• Follow infection control protocols and universal precautions to keep residents safe
• Document observations, care delivered and any changes in condition with clarity
• Observe residents closely and report abnormal signs or behaviors to the care team
• Use proper body mechanics to safely move and assist residents
• Collaborate with the treatment team and support care plans for each resident

Qualifications

• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification required
• Minimum six months of experience in a long-term care (LTC) setting
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers required or obtainable within six months of employment
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand simple English and follow oral and written instructions
• Physical ability to perform essential duties including lifting, standing and assisting residents
• Positive attitude, patience and tolerance for challenging behaviors
• Previous work experience in Hawaii is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient care fundamentals and personal hygiene assistance
• Taking vital signs and measuring outputs
• Infection control and universal precautions
• Activities of daily living (ADLs) and restorative care techniques
• Body mechanics and safe resident handling
• Accurate documentation and observation skills
• Oral and written communication and cultural sensitivity
• Understanding of patient rights and basic medical/nursing terminology
• First aid and basic emergency response awareness
