Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based post-stroke and neuro stepdown care to patients
• Monitor telemetry and perform/interpret EKGs to detect and respond to arrhythmias
• Use EPIC to document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize outcomes
• Maintain patient safety and appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios in a 30-bed Neuro Stroke Unit
• Float to like units as needed and adapt quickly to changing patient acuity
• Complete required competency testing and maintain mandatory certifications

Qualifications

• Active RN license (verifiable via Nursys)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIHSS and DCI/BVP certifications required
• Comfortable and competent with EPIC electronic health records
• Ability to perform EKGs and strong rhythm interpretation skills
• Experience in neuro stepdown, stroke care, or telemetry preferred
• Willingness to float to like units and a team-oriented mindset

• Neuro stepdown and stroke care principles

• EKG performance and interpretation
• Proficiency with EPIC EHR workflows and documentation
• Basic pharmacology knowledge relevant to acute neuro patients
• Patient assessment, critical thinking, and rapid clinical decision-making
