Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret advanced hemodynamic data using Swan-Ganz catheters and arterial lines to guide patient care
• Manage ventilator settings, perform ventilator assessments, and provide high-quality ventilator management
• Deliver expert post-operative care for post-CABG and post-VAD patients, including monitoring support devices
• Respond to emergencies and use ACLS/BLS skills to stabilize critically ill patients
• Collaborate with physicians, perfusionists, respiratory therapists and the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech and maintain clear, concise handoffs
• Employ strong critical thinking to anticipate patient needs and prioritize interventions
• Float to other areas as required per Methodist Floating Policy, adapting quickly to unit needs

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required — no temporary licenses accepted
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (CVICU experience strongly preferred)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• NIH certification required
• Hands-on experience with hemodynamic monitoring, Swan-Ganz, arterial lines and ventilator management
• Familiarity with Meditech charting and order entry is preferred
• Preferred experience: IABP, CRRT, Impella, ECMO and VAD care
• Able to work rotating day/night shifts and weekends and to float per unit policy

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
• Ventilator management and respiratory assessment
• Post-cardiac surgery and VAD patient care
• Use of cardiac support devices (IABP, Impella, ECMO) — preferred
• CRRT familiarity — preferred
• Strong critical thinking, clinical judgment and prioritization
• Meditech documentation and order entry proficiency
• Effective communication and teamwork in a high-acuity environment
