Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate ICU nursing care for critically ill patients
- Assess and monitor patients continuously, interpret telemetry strips and act fast
- Manage ventilators and provide ventilator-associated troubleshooting from nasal cannula to full vent support
- Titrate and manage vasoactive drips and other titratable medications safely
- Perform arterial line care and CVP monitoring, ensuring accurate hemodynamic assessments
- Document patient care and assessments accurately in MEDITECH
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (RT, ER, physicians) to optimize patient outcomes
- Adapt quickly when floating to MS or ER for 1:1 assignments and support unit needs
- Coach and debrief on unsafe situations; contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Active RN license (state licensure required)
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS; TNCC or TCAR or demonstrable trauma patient care experience
- Minimum 1 year of ICU/critical care experience (telemetry interpretation, ventilator management, drip titration)
- Comfortable with 12-hour night shifts and able to work weekends/holidays as needed
- Able and willing to pass required fit testing (facial hair must be removable or candidate must be able to pass mask fit protocols)
- Must not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facilities (radius rule applies)
- Able to commit to limited requested time off upfront (RTO rules: 7 days or fewer for a 13-week contract)
Education
- Active RN license required
- BSN preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong critical care assessment and prioritization skills
- Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm management
- Ventilator management and troubleshooting
- Titration of vasoactive drips and ICU medication management
- Arterial line care and CVP monitoring
- Proficient charting in MEDITECH or similar EHRs
- Teamwork, coachability, strong communication and situational awareness
- Comfort with working autonomously in a small-unit ICU (4 beds) and adapting to changing acuity
