Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality post-anesthesia care to PACU patients, ensuring safe recovery after procedures
• Monitor and manage patients on ventilators and respond to respiratory changes quickly
• Perform NIH Stroke Scale assessments and escalate concerns promptly
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Cerner
• Maintain safe patient ratios (1:2) and prioritize patient comfort and safety
• Collaborate with the peri-anesthesia team, including HUCs and PCTs, for seamless patient flow
• Float to related units (Endoscopy, PreOp, Phase II) as needed to support the team
• Participate in unit call coverage as scheduled and contribute to a positive patient experience

Qualifications

• Active RN (Registered Nurse) title: RN role required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (as listed)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (required)
• Experience with NIH Stroke Scale assessments (required)
• Advanced skill with ventilator monitoring
• Experience in PACU/Post-Anesthesia Care; trauma and pediatric experience requested
• Familiarity with Cerner documentation system

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) workflows and standards
• Ventilator monitoring and management
• NIH Stroke Scale assessment proficiency
• Documentation and charting in Cerner
• Ability to work with standard PACU equipment and maintain patient safety
• Comfort with floating to peri-anesthesia areas and adapting to different procedure types
• Strong teamwork, communication, and triage skills in a fast-paced surgical environment
