Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing for ventilated and post-CABG patients with compassion and precision
• Continuously monitor hemodynamics and respond decisively to changes in patient status
• Manage mechanical ventilation and execute ventilator adjustments in collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Deliver ECMO and heart-transplant related supportive care when indicated, following unit protocols
• Perform bedside shift reports and maintain up-to-date patient whiteboard information
• Document thoroughly in Meditech to ensure continuity of care and accurate charting
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and multidisciplinary teams to create and implement patient-centered plans
• Maintain high standards of infection control, safety and unit-specific policies

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• Minimum 2+ years ICU / critical care experience required
• BLS and ACLS certification required; CPR competency expected
• Proven experience with hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management
• Experience with post-CABG care and high-acuity cardiovascular patients preferred
• CVICU and ECMO experience strongly preferred
• Comfortable using Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems
• Strong teamwork, communication and bedside reporting skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing principles and ICU best practices
• Mechanical ventilation and ventilator weaning strategies
• Hemodynamic monitoring interpretation and interventions
• Post-operative cardiac care including CABG and transplant support
• ECMO fundamentals and high-acuity cardiovascular care
• Proficient documentation in Meditech or comparable EHRs
• Cardiac life support skills (ACLS, BLS) and bedside emergency response
• Ability to work rotating nights and weekend schedules with a calm, professional manner
