Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to a diverse patient population in a fast-paced medical-surgical unit
• Monitor and assess patients' conditions, administer medications, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions to promote optimal health outcomes
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
• Respond to emergent situations with confidence and clinical expertise, utilizing critical thinking and teamwork

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Iowa or compact state
• Minimum 1-2 years of recent MedSurg experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications
• Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in medical-surgical nursing including wound care, IV therapy, medication administration, and patient monitoring
• Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems
• Knowledge of infection control practices and safety protocols
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Compassionate bedside manner with a focus on patient advocacy
