Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical ventilation for high-acuity patients, ensuring safe and effective ventilator strategies
• Perform ABG collection and analysis to guide timely respiratory interventions
• Assist with intubations and respond quickly to airway emergencies
• Provide bronchodilator therapy, tracheostomy care, and airway clearance procedures
• Deliver high-flow oxygen therapy and safely transport patients when needed
• Respond as a critical member of code blue teams and emergency responses
• Document care accurately and promptly in Meditech to support continuity and quality
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to assess patients and contribute to care plans

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) required
• BLS and ACLS required; PALS preferred
• At least 2 years of respiratory therapy experience preferred (ICU experience strongly preferred)
• Demonstrated proficiency with ventilator management and advanced respiratory procedures
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and commit to a 36-hour/week schedule with every-other-weekend coverage
• Current state respiratory therapy license and ability to meet credentialing requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of ventilator management and respiratory monitoring
• Experience with Drager ventilators, Phillips V60, Vapotherm and Metaneb devices
• Skilled in ABG collection and interpretation
• Proficient in Meditech documentation and electronic charting
• Comfortable performing intubation assist and code blue protocols
• Excellent patient assessment and critical thinking under pressure
• Effective communication and teamwork in multidisciplinary ICU settings
• Familiarity with high-flow oxygen therapy and trach care best practices
