Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative nursing care to patients across the lifespan
• Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop nursing diagnoses using the nursing process
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately
• Interpret diagnostic tests and communicate findings effectively to the surgical team
• Coordinate care with surgeons, anesthetists, PACU staff and other healthcare professionals to optimize outcomes
• Educate patients, families and caregivers about procedures, recovery and discharge planning
• Follow AORN standards and facility policies to maintain a safe operative environment
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to support colleagues and ensure continuity of care
• Maintain required competencies, certifications and documentation for the role
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and cost-effective care practices

Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska (required)
• Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
• Minimum 1–2 years of nursing experience (perioperative/PACU experience preferred)
• Current BLS & ACLS required; PALS preferred
• National Certification in Surgery/PACU preferred
• Ability to pass and maintain position-specific competencies and credentialing
• Proficiency with cardiac monitors and basic medical equipment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

• Medication administration and safe practice
• Diagnostic test interpretation and clinical reasoning
