Roles & Responsibilities

Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care for step-down/SDU patients
Continuously assess and monitor patient condition, escalating concerns promptly
Administer medications and treatments accurately and document thoroughly
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
Educate patients and families about care plans, recovery expectations, and discharge needs
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) — primary requirement (as indicated in the posting)
Experience or comfort working in a Step-Down Unit (SDU) is expected or preferred
Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts as noted in the job details
Available to start for the assignment beginning 2026-05-17 (start date provided)
Eligible to work in Metairie, LA and meet facility onboarding requirements

Knowledge & Skills

Proficient patient assessment and telemetry monitoring for step-down patients
Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking in acute care situations
Medication administration and IV/infusion familiarity
Clear, professional communication with patients, families, and team members
Comfort with electronic health record documentation and unit workflow
