Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality progressive care/PCU-level nursing for mixed-acuity adult patients
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to ensure timely intervention
• Participate in rapid response and code teams to support patient emergencies
• Manage IV therapy, start and maintain IVs, and administer blood products safely
• Care for central lines, PICCs and arterial lines with attention to infection control
• Support respiratory needs including BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC and tracheostomy care
• Perform wound care (including Wound Vac) and manage feeding tubes and continuous bladder irrigation
• Follow heparin and insulin protocols and manage cardiac drips (no titration)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Respiratory, PT, Pharmacy, Radiology, etc.) to optimize patient outcomes
• Document accurately in Epic and maintain charting standards

Qualifications

• Active Ohio nursing license (RN) required
• Minimum 2 years of recent progressive care/PCU/Stepdown nursing experience
• BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS required
• Comfortable floating within the OSU organization as needed
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, IV therapy, and blood product administration
• Able to participate in rapid response/code teams and provide post-surgical PCU care
• First-time travelers accepted (if applying as agency/contract staff)
• Familiarity with Epic charting preferred

Education

• Active RN license in Ohio
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and unit cardiac monitoring
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC care
• Blood product administration and heparin protocols
• Respiratory support: BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care, oxygen administration
• Chest tube management and wound care (including Wound Vac)
• Feeding tube care and continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
• IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration
• Use of rapid response/code teams and emergency response skills
• Infection control, isolation precautions, and PPE best practices
