Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert post-anesthesia care for a high-volume PACU, managing recovery for general, trauma, cardiac, transplant, pediatric and specialty surgical patients
• Perform invasive monitoring and assessments including A-line, PA (Swan-Ganz), EVD and ICP as required
• Manage ventilated patients and coordinate ventilator care and weaning in collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Administer and monitor conscious sedation and procedural sedation with careful IV starts and medication management
• Recognize and manage dysrhythmias and provide advanced cardiac monitoring
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — pharmacy, RT, PT, radiology, social services and rapid response — to optimize patient outcomes
• Float across PACU and preop bays as needed and maintain safety and throughput in a busy, 100+ bay environment

Qualifications

• Active California RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of PACU nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS required; PALS required
• Conscious sedation IV start experience and comfort with procedural sedation monitoring
• Experience with pulmonary artery (Swan-Ganz) monitoring, telemetry and ventilator management
• CCR N and ICP monitoring experience preferred but not required
• First-time travel clinicians accepted

Knowledge & Skills

• PACU nursing and post-anesthesia recovery best practices
• Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Pulmonary artery line (Swan-Ganz) monitoring and interpretation
• Telemetry and advanced cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia recognition/management
• Invasive monitoring: arterial lines, EVD, ICP
• IV insertion and conscious sedation administration/monitoring
• Ability to work across a broad surgical case mix including transplant, cardiac, neuro, trauma and pediatrics
