Roles & Responsibilities

• Independently manage a patient assignment (expected to care for up to 5 patients) with clinical confidence
• Provide high-quality postop orthopedic and surgical nursing care including dressing changes and aspirations
• Assess, monitor, and manage patient pain and collaborate on pain management plans
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using the Meditech EMR
• Coordinate care with surgeons, physical therapy, and interdisciplinary team members for smooth discharges
• Educate patients and families on postop care, mobility, and recovery expectations
• Champion patient safety and quality outcomes through positive teamwork and communication

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to practice in Colorado) required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (explicitly stated in the posting)
• Experience on a surgical unit and comfort with orthopedic patients
• Ability to independently manage five patients on shift (must-have)
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR (documenting and charting experience preferred)
• Pain management experience is a plus and will be considered favorably

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Nursing degree (ADN/BSN) — degree type not specifically mandated in posting

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong orthopedic and postoperative nursing knowledge
• Clinical skills in dressing changes and aspiration procedures
• Medication administration and pain management best practices
• Proficient use of Meditech or similar electronic medical records
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and a positive attitude
• Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical unit and prioritize patient needs
