Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative care by scrubbing and circulating during surgical procedures in the Operating Room
• Support complex cases in neuro spine, ortho spine, vascular and robotic specialties—be the steady hand the team relies on
• Maintain strict sterile technique and OR safety standards throughout each case
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative teams to ensure seamless patient care
• Accurately document care in EPIC and communicate patient status using SBAR and unit communication boards
• Participate in unit orientation and team meetings to stay aligned with protocols and improvements
• Be prepared to handle a high-volume environment (approximately 45 cases/day across 17 rooms) with professionalism and calm

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years recent Operating Room experience (applicants out of acute OR >6 months should not be screened)
• Ability to both scrub and circulate is required (scrub experience in vascular is a HARD STOP)
• Travel experience required (candidates without prior travel experience may still be screened)
• Current BLS (BCLS) certification required
• No recent primary management role as most-recent position (will not consider applicants whose most recent role was management)
• Comfort working night shift 3x12-hour schedule and handling high case volumes
• Familiarity with unit systems (PYXIS, EPIC) and effective SBAR communication

Knowledge & Skills

• Scrub and circulate proficiency
• Operating Room (OR) workflow and sterile technique
• Neuro spine and neurological cases
• Orthopedic and ortho spine procedures, including spinal fusion and laminectomy/discectomy
• Vascular surgery skills (e.g., AAA repair, carotid procedures, AV fistula repair)
• Robotic surgery support (urologic, colorectal, gynecologic, GI, orthopedic, TORS)
• EPIC charting and PYXIS medication/workflow systems
• SBAR communication and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, multi-room OR setting
