Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered oncology nursing care on a med-surg oncology unit
• Assess, monitor, and document patient condition using Cerner EMR to ensure continuity of care
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely, following unit protocols and chemo guidelines when certified
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and post-discharge care
• Respond to patient needs and emergencies with confidence and clinical sound judgment
• Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to unit quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (preferably Med-Surg or Oncology)
• Chemo certification preferred but not required—candidates with it will be considered first
• Comfortable working with Cerner EMR and standard med-surg equipment
• Team player attitude and willingness to learn in a dynamic hospital environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing best practices and safe chemotherapy handling (if certified)
• Med-Surg clinical skills and patient assessment
• Experience with Cerner EMR for documentation and order management
• Ability to manage patient ratios around 1:4 or 1:5 with strong prioritization
• Patient education, family communication, and discharge planning
• Strong teamwork, adaptability, and positive attitude
